Re: The traditional Jamaican culture is still alive and well
Congratulations Cap,
You are a lucky and blessed man!!
Your observations about Jamaicans is very true. What many fail to realize is that many Jamaicans that move to Negril are from other areas and Negril offers an opportunity financially that they may not have at home. I remember after many visits to Negril deciding to venture out and see what else the island had to offer so I travelled the length and width of the island and found that Jamaicans were the friendliest, most generous people I had met. The people off the beaten path were shy, welcoming, and happy to talk and learn about things that they hadn't been exposed to. That was a long time ago and I know that things in JA have moved fast in the past 10-20 years but I was in Portland two years ago and met up with an old friend who I hadn't seen since 1998. He referred to me to everybody we met as his brother, not once did anyone beg me or trouble me in any way during my stay. So I am reinforcing your statement that "Jamaicans are very proper and even old fashioned". The salt of the earth!!!
