Re: How many hotels b4 you settled...
MoFromMonroe, the cost of Couples, while a great deal compared to other all inclusive resorts that I would be interested in, upon reflection just did not add up. We did venture out from both CSA and CSS for meals and found the prices to be cheap and the food excellent. There was no way that we were eating and drinking the $235 difference in price per night. When we went to the before mentioned trip to St Martin 17 years ago and found ourselves having $250 meals we thought that all the islands were like that. Had heard of folks who complained about $25 hamburgers in Aruba in 1979. So we went with the all inclusive places, the first, Sandals in Antiqua, which we found hokey and overpriced. When we found Couples we thought we found our place. When we went to CSS with our friends the only thing, other than hanging on the beach, that we did was an obligatory glass bottom boat ride. Did the catamaran ride and the glass bottom boat ride at CSA twice, that was enough. When I looked at the list of inclusive items and found that we took advantage of very few combined with the great selection of places to dine we just said enough. Heck, we are not frozen drink people. I can pour my own scotch or make my own rum punch easily in my room. So we had a great time at Idle Awhile and spent half of what we would have spent at CSA. But, the deal with Charela was just too good to pass up. I imagine that if you do golf, scuba, tennis, snorkeling, and the water boats it is worth it, but for us to sit under a tree it was not.
We hope to be able to get the Long House for my family of 6 at Tensing Pen for a few nights to give the cliffs a try. We love it there and just think we need to give a stay a try for at least two nights. Will be interesting to see how things work out. We have been to plenty of beaches, my husband more so. He has been to Costa Rica, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand in addition to the Caribbean. And we have both been up and down the east and west coast of the good ole USA. He loves Negril best. I don't much understand the complaints folks have about the hustle on the beach. No one really bothers us. Sure people will hawk here and there. But it is like that in a lot of places. We have found raising our hand/palm takes care of it. But then we are not that young anymore......might have something to do with it.

Re: How many hotels b4 you settled...
I was staying at CSA and met a nice couple. They told us how they went to the restaurant and told the waiter at the All Inclusive they wanted to order EVERYTHING on the menu? That's when I knew I was done with the A/I's.
