Re: How many hotels b4 you settled...
Our first trip to Jamaica was to Couples Swept Away in 2007. Did not do a trip the next year. Then went to CSA a second time. Loved the resort, the ocean, the beach and the ease of all inclusive. Had been looking at Caneel Bay and the travel agent said, heck, for the price of that place your could go on two trips. We ventured with friends to Couples Sans Souci and were disappointed in much of the trip. Missed the beach and everything about Negril. Also realized that we were paying for much of what was included that we never did. We pretty much do the beach. Walk, hang out and spend the day on the beach from dawn to dusk. Heck we are Jersey people, we love the beach. Decided to keep away from Jamaica all-inclusive, even if the AI resorts were so much less than the ones we had done in the DR and Antigua. We had been to St Martine, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico as well, before the first trip to Jamaica, which we had avoided because of the, what we thought, long drive from the airport. First time to CSA we did the puddle jumper. Did the included transport the next time we went and felt that it was a fine trip. But before we returned to Negril, following the trip to Ocho Rios we rented a villa at Silver Sands with family and for the money it was fabulous, but we missed Negril. The next year we headed back and stayed at Idle Awhile. Loved our time there. Last year we had the good fortune of having the opportunity for a last minute trip paid for by my husbands employer, Idle Awhile was booked, as was CSA. So we stayed at Charela Inn, all inclusive, as my husband was just home from 8.5 weeks in Asia and wanted to do nothing much. We loved our time at Charela. Everything was so good. The room was beach front, sparkling clean, great housekeeping, the food was beyond fabulous, the drinks great. It was a steal. The beach area was wide, with lots of shade and the service was fabulous. We had the best vacation, pretty much, than we ever have had. Heck we stayed in St Martine 19 years ago and the room alone was $500 a night. Our stay at Charela in May was $300 all inclusive. Next year we are bringing our "kids" and planning on staying on the cliffs for a few nights and ending up at Charela. We love Negril.
