Authentic Jamaica....where's that? Seem like if you're in Jamaica that's pretty authentic.
Maybe authentic means no running water or electric as it was in Ketto when I first got there.
As far as I know the original Negril families still are there.

sometimes i take vacations - my recent carnival cruise (party) --- some time i travel (explore and learn)- oh and i love to creep and find out the inner most things and meet dangerous people lol

kevin- i can see the Vegas not being authentic thing but if you think about it ... it is, just on a super magnified compacted into a desert bowl version. i'm trying to think of a single location that you could call authentic. and i cant... so maybe its all authentic just different because of location, and supply and demand on the area.

I have the WJ rewards program, but we are travelling in April and the prices are much higher. October and November are the some of the cheapest months as it's hurricaine season, and the weather can be questionable. The prices reflect the volume of people travelling as well. When lots are traveling the prices go up...the carriers know they can sell the seats regardless of the price! It's a real game......
Yes, I think the sale I got was good for travel up to Dec 15th. Maybe they'll have another one later on that will include April (not high season either). This past April, I paid $725 from Saskatoon, by signing up for Kayak daily alerts.
Wow...everyone is really getting hung up over the "authentic" thing. I said staying non-AI is more authentic than staying AI and get told Negril is not authentic. I agreed with that persons notion and now it seems we offended some. I don't think either of us were implying there is anything unauthentic about Negril. It's authentic Negril for sure. And yes, the opportunity to "pull back the curtain" is there.
It's funny because I knew someone was going to have something to say about the use of the word "authentic". I thought I played it down the middle, appeasing both opinions when I phrased it as "more authentic". Obviously not because here we are splitting hairs by each of us applying our own meaning of the word "authentic".
I'll go back to lurking now so I don't get hit by the nerf bat again.
