Silly question, but...do you need to refrigerate rum cream?

I visited Negril for the first time this past December and will be there again this December for 10 days. I fell in love with rum cream and had it every morning in my coffee (magnificent way to start the morning while watching the waves roll in!). I don't recall refrigerating my rum cream and now I'm wondering if I should had. It didn't kill me, obviously, but I'd like to make sure and get it right this time! I'm giddy about going back and love doing it solo. It's nice to have sand gravity be my guide and just roll with the waves. Soon come.

Just checked my bottle (in the fridge). I thought it said to refrigerate, but it says on the label "store in a cool place, contains milk products"...pretty much the same thing, particularly in Jamaica where the fridge would be the only cool place!

Thanks to all for the info. Guess I got lucky last year and didn't get sick. I shall keep it nice and chilled this time around! I'll be bringing a bottle home this time, but think I'll only bring it out on weekends. Actually, come to think of it, it would be a nice start to a workday, wouldn't it? I guess that's probably not a good habit to begin...

I have a very "cool" place to store my Sangsters about which no one else knows. It never goes bad!

The KEY word in this question is CREAM. This means there is milk products and should be refridgerated after opening. Just as you would bailieys or any other cream products. If it makes you feel better I am serv-safe certified.

Ive consumed rum cream months after opening with no refrigeration. The alcohol preserves it.
