Would like some feedback on Charela's in Negril. Planning on staying there a week and it is our first time there. What do I need to know in advance. We have a room on the second floor, seaside. Any info would be appreciated.

It's a nice place with a beautiful beach. I'm staying at its sister property, Mirage, in November and will make a point of spending time on Charela's beach then. Looking forward to checking it out up close. Have been there for dinner on a Thursday night when they've had their jazz entertainment, was very nice.
Charela was the first place I stayed in Negril and is still one of my favorites. Quiet but within walking distance of the beach night life. Wide, clean beach. Great staff and restaurant. You will love the upper level ocean front room. Be sure to make the acquaintance of Jango. He's the carver that sells his wares on the beach there. Tell him Donna & Ed say hi. Also get a massage from Sandra, the best hands on the beach!
Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him. KJV Psalm 68:4
Awesome beachfront! Some of the deepest along the entire beachfront.
Not sure what happened to the edit button, must of went away with my PM privileges. It should read " some of the deepest along the entire beach."
I stayed at Charela last December and will be there again this December. I loved the place. Great food. Fabulous beach. Wonderful staff. I stayed on a ground level seafront room and, like you, will be in a second floor seafront this December. On your first day, introduce yourself to the staff member who takes care of the loungers on the beach. Tell him where you want your loungers to be, and they'll be ready for you, in the same spot, every day. I liked to catch the juice man who passed by every morning and I would get either fresh pineapple ginger juice or orange juice. I'd sit on my patio and enjoy my juice and fresh coffee with rum cream and watch the beach slowly come to life with people. It's a fantastic wide section of beach. I do know they are building new seafront rooms (attached to the section you'll be in) that are supposed to be completed in November. I don't know when you're going, but if it's in the next month or so you might inquiry as to the noise level to expect and during what hours. The owner and his wife usually have dinner inside the restaurant and you'll likely meet them. Definitely go to the Thursday evening jazz show if you can-- it's wonderful to sit, enjoy a good meal with wine and listen to jazz, with the beach as your backdrop! I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay. As I said...I went for the first time last December and I'd already made reservations for this year, 5 days after my return! Once you go you know...![]()
You can't go wrong. Very sweet property.
In the west end The Sea Star Inn has good strong wifi free for guests, we skype from there often during our stays there.
We loved our week at the Charela back in May. We will be going back in '14 with our family. The beach, service, food and drinks were all great. We enjoyed the entertainment on Thursday and Friday. When the bellman opened the door to our jr suite the view was amazing. The entire property was clean and comfortable. As was our room. We did the all inclusive option and enjoyed every meal, we will go ai again for our next trip. Our trips to Negril are our veg vacation. Just hit the beach and this is a beach lovers beach. Lots of trees for shade and space for comfort. They set up your spot each day with your towel waiting for your arrival. They will serve you drinks and meals at your lounger if you wish. We enjoyed our espresso each morning on the beach. We walked a lot, which is one of the things we love about Negril. You are going to have a wonderful vacation!
I stayed at Charela 9 times. The beach is exceptionally beautiful. and deep..best on the 7 mile strip, topping Couples Swept Away which is also very nice. If Clive still works there he will arrange your beach chairs every morning. You cannot go wrong with Charela! I agree with all the prior posts. You'll be happy!!!
