Good question! I forgot about the new smoking laws and that it may impact the "smoking" lounge. I just emailed Club Mobay to ask the status.

I'm purchasing Club Mobay for a friend for his wedding gift as he and his bride are going to Ocho Rios. The email I got yesterday stated this:

    Good Day Johnathan Steil,

    Thanks for your email.

We have recently introduced our "Meet & Greet" Bundle Package which cover departures as well as arrivals. This package includes:

    Meet off the plane
    Escorted through immigration and customs
Receive a refreshment and cold towel
Co-ordinate and accompany you to the hotel arrivals lounge or transport
Access to Club Mobay's arrival lounge
In addition you fast track through immigration and security on departure and get access to the Club Mobay Lounge.

The cost is $80 each for adults and $40 each for children 2-12 years, children under 2 years are free of charge
(charges included arrival and departure services).

The cost of our Arrivals ONLY service is $50 each for adults and $25 each for children, Departures ONLY service is $30 each for adults and $15 each for children.

You may complete and pay for the package for your guests.

If you are interested in the "meet and greet bundle" please complete form in attached file and send to priority@vipattractions.com.

Thank you for your inquiry and we look forward to serving you at Club Mobay.

Please be advised that ground transportation is not included.

Well, the Club Mobay treatment sure sounds good; but that's not for me.
I'd rather arrive and shop for my duty free booze (cheating a little on the amount allowed to Canada) and then have an overpriced, dry, crappy patty from the fast food cart near the upper level departure gates.
I'm in a foul mood anyway because I have to leave. Grrrrr.

I received a reply from Club Mobay. They say the Vibes lounge is still available for smokers. Also, towels are available from the reception desk, if you choose to have a shower while at Club Mobay.

What do I do now? Pout mostly.

Also.. About club mobay. It is quite nice, but almost seems no big deal with the new airport. The first time my wife and I went to jamaica, they still took the stairs out to the plane. I remember there were no chairs or any place to sit really while waiting to board, our flight back to Philly was 2 hours late, and my wife was so unhappy sitting on the floor when she discovered a train of ants walking across her hand after she had fallen asleep. The airport used to be a lot different...heck, even the first class lounge was decidedly different than what they have now for club mobay.

It does sound quite different! I may not use Club Mobay if I have an early departure and don't have much time, but for the cost, you could easily spend $30 pp on a lousy food court meal and a drink or two. You don't get a full meal at Club Mobay, but you can eat all the soup, patties and snacks that you want, in a comfortable environment. For sure you'd spend $30 having a burger and drink wedged in the little space at Margaritaville...depends too how much you're wanting North American fast food or burgers at that point! Really depends how much time you have to wait before your flight. I'll have plenty of time before my 8:15 pm flight next trip to get my $30 worth! (and don't mind skipping the food court and airline food)

I always get a spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy's. Don't really know why but now it's tradition. Then I browse the shops until my flight leaves. I'm too cheap for club mobay. Plus I like to walk around a bunch before being forced to sit for the next 12 hours.

Re: What do you do at the airport prior to departure?

We used Club Mobay twice for our 6:30 PM flight with two completely different experiences..
First- we had about 2 hrs to kill before our flight. Food was fresh and drinks were great. They announced our flight as it was boarding and we walked right on to the plane

Second- Food was old, picked over and some things empty. Nothing was replaced. Drinks were hard to come by because the bartender disappeared. At one point someone came over to us to see when we were leaving because they wanted to close the room down. We left the club early and it's a good thing we did. Our flight was "waiting" for us so they could leave early. They claim they called Club Mobay to see if anyone was there and they were told no.

Our last trip we just went to Margaritaville and for sure paid more than $60 for lunch and two drinks each. So we might give give the club another try in Nov.

Wow Mo, I would email them telling them about your last experience. They're supposed to be open until 9 pm or later if there are still guests. Management needs to know when they don't do that...maybe they'll offer free access for your next trip to compensate you.
