Peace, Todd & Cher
So how far did they get on the sidewalk on NM Blvd. before stopping? I was loving the idea of being able to walk easily to the small restaurants on the street without dodging the cars.
What is wrong with the work?
The sidewalk was being worked on hard yesterday, concrete being poured and the curbs being put in place by each driveway - but everyone stopping working early, I didn't think anything of it at the time as it was raining.
It is nearly complete with the concrete poured and set from the bridge by the roundabout to the Grand Pineapple, just a few small stretches not poured yet.
The complaints have been coming since nearly day one to make the sidewalk more aesthetically pleasing with suggestions ranging from a wooden boardwalk type sidewalk to adding palm trees along the way...
This will be interesting to see what the Ministry tour ends up suggesting, but it is good to know the local businesses concerns will be addressed in the final decision.
At least it looks like this will be finished before some of the major projects in my hometown of Columbus Ohio.
It took the I-670 interchange 28 years to be finished:

And the I-270 ongoing construction, lasting some 43 years (so far)... (grin)

I think it has more to do with complaints with the way it looks, than the actual construction:
"The Minister of Tourism has expressed dislike for the harshness of the concrete sidewalks being built and a tour is being planned to re-examine the aesthetics of the project."
The company that created the medians was replaced early on in the project as they were not tending to the plants that were to be placed in the center of the medians. That may explain the reference to the following comment:
"However, mid-way into the project, concerns were raised by tourism interests over the type and quality of work being undertaken."

Hopefully this is just a temporary stop to produce a better final product.
Then we can tackle the West End ?![]()
That is the plan that was outlined last December...
"The NWA CEO highlighted the fact that after the completion of the first 4KM, a long term partnership will be entered into between the TEF and NWA for the further expansion of the sidewalk and collateral works, as well as sidewalks in the west end to carry the project through to its logical conclusion."

Seems most the tourist would agree ,any side walk is better than no side walk
Sidewalk? Looks like it is being used to park cars and shooters that block the path. I have walked from town on a portion, yes improvement is needed but much safer than the road verges. Wish I could roller blade on it
