Good for you, getting right back on the horse after a disappointing first try!

Did you see the following thread which gives some answers to your question?

2nutz's map is the most recent I know of. Depending on where you stay, but I've found I can walk to get cash and get enough for about 2 or 3 days at one time. You should be able to get a taxi for about $500j, one way (or less). If you have a private airport transfer, you can stop for some cash, booze, and other supplies on your way to the hotel. You can buy duty free cigs for about $35/carton on arrival at the airport.

I agree with the Bar Crawl. Have at least one sunset dinner on the cliffs. Try as many of the recommended restaurants, high and low end, it's a foodie's delight in Negril. I like to spend some time at Xtabi one day and take my snorkel gear. The view is amazing. Walking the beach, checking out little places, talking to locals, stopping at a few happy hours is the best part. Being serenaded by strolling musicians while you're on your beach lounger. Buying freshly squeezed juices from the guy who walks the beach. Buying a Jamaican patty from Norman (makes his rounds on the beach everyday with his cardboard box balanced on the front of his bicycle), or go to Niah's and have a big one freshly made. It's the little things that make it special. Just soak up the experiences on every walk, conversation, taxi ride.

Enjoy, wishing you wonderful, calm weather this time around!
