    Webcasts... what's it all about?

I am fairly new to negril.com but a long time member of trip advisor (glad I found negril.com!). I have read many posts about the webcasts, but not sure what happens at them? Are they worth going to? What happens.
    Thanks... 14 days and counting!

It's a place that a like people on this board meet up. Rob and Lisa are there and can give you their information as to what's happening and places to go, always a bar so you tell me if you feel it's worth going to?

They are a good place to meet lots of people. The Saturday night ones at Seastar are good because you can eat at the buffet, watch a show, dance if you like, and there is a free shuttle to get you there. I also like the Sunday morning ones at Cafe Goa, it is a nice breakfast and there is usually a band. I love to watch the Sunday morning ones from home too.

Re: Webcasts... what's it all about?

I started the live webcasts on Negril.com in December 1997 as a way to bring the real Negril live to the people who visited Negril.com.

The live chat that happens during the webcast was originally thought of as a way to assist people with technical issues when trying to listen (then watch) the webcasts. But from the first webcast it became immediately an important part of the webcasts itself allowing the viewers to interact with each other and those of us in Negril.

In less than 2 weeks, the webcasts themselves became an easy way for the folks on Negril.com to meet each other while in Negril.

A few days later we started the idea of a roving live pub crawl on the West End.

And that concept continues today with the Love Bus Pub Crawl with Lenbert, currently running 3 days a week. The first couple months of the Bus Pub Crawl we webcast live from the bus!

In 2003 I spun off the webcasts to the site called RealNegril.com to help define the "real" Negril aspect of the live and immediate quality of the webcasts. They have been and always will be the single best place for our "boardies" (anyone who visits the Negril.com site) to meet and greet each other while in Negril.

Here are a few "blasts from the past" from:

    1999: http://www.realnegril.com/beingees/nn200899.htm

    2002: http://www.realnegril.com/beingees/nn111202.htm

    2003: http://www.realnegril.com/beingees/nn050303.htm

Our current webcast schedule is as follows:

    Sunday - Sunday Brunch - 11am to 1pm - Cafe Goa

Tuesday - Noontime Party on the Beach - Noon to 2pm - Fun Holiday
    and
    Sunset on the Cliffs Party - 5pm to 7pm - 3 Dives
