Your favorite souvenir from Negril?

A bookmark I cut and made from an ad for Negril, I have had it for 20 years.

I do see Karl nearly everyday when out in Negril beach and cliffs. Last trip he sat down with us at webcast at 3 dives.
My house is as we can imagine full of carvings and shells and medicine containers of sand from each "beach" i visited in Jamaica as well as money of each denomination framed.

My most favorite is these two miniature totem poles type wood carvings , one a man rasta and one a lady about 5 inches tall flat on top and bottom. I got them many years and the carver said to me and husband "you decide who go on top of who, he who rules sets atop". Well since the day those entered the house the lady always been stacked on top LOL.
Second I am sure there is backlash but I bought a beautiful huge queen conch shell on 7 mile two years ago, over 8 inches high and 10-12 in long; polished and shiny souvenir style. Customs checked my bag and let me in with it even though I was warned it may not pass. It sets as a centerpiece in my family room.
I also have the same Dr Bird carving as pictured and the same turtle, they set by fireplace next to large rasta lion carving.
My dream Negril souvenir is the giant carved giraffe from the craft market vendors, they also set up at RIU's and have it there. OH if shipping wasnt so tough, I eye those up every trip wanting one so bad. 4 feet or so high by 2-3 wide. Someday when i win the lottery it will have it's own plane seat and fly home with me.
These are only my physical souvenirs but i always have pictures of me and the girls and the many girls I work with and laugh as I look at them and remember all the silly white lady things they've said; each picture has a story.

just wondered how many people have had honeymoon babies as souvenirs or holiday romance babies ? or has anyone gone into labour while on holiday and the baby be born there ?

That's the first thing I thought of when I read the title of the thread...I've got a souvenir baby! Well..Kindergartner now. I guess it's the gift that keeps on giving! lol.

Great topic and I love hearing the stories of everyone's favorite souvenir - and especially seeing the pictures.
I am going to have to look up Karl Rickett's on next reach and add a painting to my treasure trove. I have just carvings so far.

My favorite, and the biggest and most intricate - a parrot totem pole.
A cousin (real, not Jamaican cousin) of my likkle Jamaican friend at the time had a stall at the craft market. Normally I haggle starting about half their first offer. But he was so nice taking the day off work to drive us all around town at no charge - I paid his asking price. Only time I've done that. I was so worried it was going to break on the trip home, but he assured me the way he wrapped it in cardboard it would be fine. He even had pics other customers had sent of their carvings after getting them home. As you can see, it made the trip just fine.

The other two are just wall plaques that just caught my eye. I know similar ones are available all over, but I like them all the same.
This one because lists all the parishes and has the "Jamaica No Problem" motto.


This one because of the motto "Out of many, one people".
Plus I just think it has a nice collection of images and colors.
