    Volunteer Opportunities at St. Anthony's

Are there any volunteer opportunities at St. Anthony's over the Xmas and NYE holiday? What steps do I need to take to confirm a day and time?

So Friar Jim...Aica......Since I will be going to The Rock soon and yes,,,I do plan on a few sins here & there....Can I absolve my soul by doing some work for you? Ya know peel a basket of onions for that silly table dance I did last night that embarrassed my wife? Can I like get credit for "future" sins yet to happen? I'm just hoping to break even at the end,ya know Fadder?

Dear Jamerican71, I'll check on volunteer opportunities around Christmas/New Year. We generally close the Kitchen for some days during the holidays but the times are not yet decided...haven't even thought about. I'll check with the powers-that-be--that would be Ms. Pearl--and we will chat about closed times. Hope we can accommodate you for some time. Will get back to you here.

As for you, Fred Stripe, NO, you cannot get credit for future sins at our Kitchen. You can, however, earn golden stars in your heavenly crown if you do some work for us. Jamerican71 just did us the favor of posting our operating and volunteer times. To shed some tears sign up for Monday morning after the kids have breakfast. The chopping, dicing, mashing all take place then for the week. I'll assign you to the onions! Or possibly you will chop the garlic--no tears, but the odor of garlic will stay on your fingers for days and be a gentle reminder to behave yourself. --Fadder Jim

Thank you for checking on the holiday hours. I will be in Negril Dec 22 - Jan 5 so I hope there will be a day or two that volunteers will be needed.

    Father
I'll be in Negril at the beginning of December and I started gathering some school supplies, got 5 backpacks, pens notebooks & planning on getting some solar powered calculators. Any other suggestions, maybe a soccer ball?

Rasta Stan and I filled a large bowl with cleaned garlic last April, which is National Garlic Month in the US, by the way. I don't know how long we worked at it; but the task was fun and the company and banter were lively. Even though we cleaned bags and bags of whole garlic bulbs, it reminded me of an old saying: "There is no such thing as a little garlic." Maybe we can repeat during the holidays.

Dear Jamerican71, I have bad news for you. The Kitchen will be closed from December 23 through January 5. If you would like to visit the place just to see it I'd be happy to take you there. And if you want to carry anything for the Kitchen, well, that would be great!

rickme, soccer balls are good! Kids love football (soccer). The other items you mentioned are welcome. We always use underwear and socks for kids if you have a little spare room in the luggage. Thanks for the support. If yo need help getting the stuff to the Kitchen give me a call. My cell is 881-1763! --Fadder Jim

Thanks for the update. I guess it's bad news for me but good news for the staff at St. Anthony's.
