Re: Convince me to go Cliff side.
It really is a matter of preference. For us, we value the peacefulness of the cliffs along with an ocean-view room. Most resorts on the cliffs have plenty of ocean view rooms. On the beach, they are harder to come by and when you find one they usually cost a premium and often have views obstructed by palm trees. We always spend a few afternoons walking the beach, but at the end of the day we enjoy retreating to the cliffs to escape the hustle and bustle. The cliffs have a chill vibe, for sure, but you can always find some action if you want to. There is always some late night activity at places like De Bar, Mi Yard, No Limit and others.

Re: Convince me to go Cliff side.
we only stayed on the beach the first several trips although we ate/drank at many places in the cliffs so a few years ago we did split stays, after 2 trips like that we're back to the beach exclusively, unless I was one to sleep all day the cliffs were just too slow and we were bored any day we didn't do a roadtrip to a Mayfield Falls or visit the beach
I just wish there were more great places to eat on the beach - it seems like most of our favorite restaurants are on the cliffs

Re: Convince me to go Cliff side.
Hmmmm..... but if I stayed on the cliffs, I'd have to bring shoes to Jamaica!
I do like the sand in my toes and my door 30 steps from the wata!

Re: Convince me to go Cliff side.
We have done the split stay, did Catcha for one night ( yes they do single nights) and had Sagi, one of the best cottages I have ever stayed at then went to the beach for 13 nights. Next reach we are doing Ochi for 4 nights, Catcha (Sagi again!) for 2nights and then CSA for 11 nights to change it up. We are beach people as well, walking each day. Wife isn't a strong swimmer so I worry about to much time on the cliffs. I on the other hand love to jump from the highest peak at Catcha and over at Ricks. Try it for at least one night!

Jody,it is quite hazardous to swim off Catcha, Ixtabi a bit less....Also you can't really touch the cliffs due to urchins ALL over,so?

Re: Convince me to go Cliff side.
I have had these salads of 1 beach hotel & 2 Cliff hotels....Then 1 beach/1 cliff.....Now, one beach foundation hotel and trips to the cliffs and back.

Re: Convince me to go Cliff side.
The only one who can convince you is you. Both offer outstanding options. In the beginning we only stayed on the beach but have since migrated to the Westend a little at a time. On our last reach we stayed all 9 days at a house we rented on the cliffs just past Out of Town Pastry and it was awesome. I work alot and want to enjoy the tranquility a vacation has to offer, my wife and I don't need others to entertain us but when it strikes us to get in the party mood, we jump on the scooter or grab a route taxi and head out. I would suggest what many of the others have, stay a few nights at both, we did an 8 night trip one year and stayed the 1st 3 on the beach at Idle aWhile, moved to Rockhouse for 3 and than finished off the trip back on the beach at Idle.
Endless great food options on the Cliffs and if you stay there a few days/night you can get 3 or 4 of them in and not have to travel back and forth while on the beach. Whatever you decide just remember, you are where we all want to be. Have fun

Fred. Which cliff hotels do YOU recommend? Love the idea of picking up one carry on bag for one day /night!

Re: Convince me to go Cliff side.
I love the beach, but also love to hear and see the sea from my room and balcony. I don't have the budget to do a seaview beach room every time (or anymore) as I'm a single mom. After 3 trips and coming up to my 4th within 2 years, I have to be frugal. So, I'm trying 3 nights at Mirage where I'll have the awesome seaview and peacefulness, close access to try as many cliff restaurants as I can cram in, can go to Charela's beach during the day if I want, then I'm moving to the beach for 6 nights. Can't wait to try it!
