Hey- anyone know the current exchange rate in Negril right now?...

www.xe.com Currency convertor online & check it right before you leave to see current at that date.
$104.50 U.S. dollars = $1. Jamaican dollar on 11/7/13 when I first started keeping track of rate, it was $73. to $1. it's sad for their economy but good for tourists...
Thanks I did look on that site- but was wondering if the places in Negril offer that rate as well? If not what the current rate of exchange in Negril would be...
Usually the conversion is done as $1US = $97.80J. (That's the example from my last trip this summer.) That makes more sense, especially if you spend $$$$ J, not US when there.
The rate quoted is also the bank rate, NOT the rate you will get at the cambio. It will be less. That is how the cambios & banks make a profit. If people go down expecting to get the same rate as qouted online, they'll be disapponted. 2 different things.
When I started going to Negril 50 trips & many, many years ago (long stays too), the exchange was $1US = $5.35J.
On all oue Negril.com Main Menu pages, near the bottom of the right hand side of each page is a currency converter available for all national currencies.
And while Ras Walleye is correct at the moment for interbank rate is 104.50, same number shown on the currency converter (which is also the rate you get on your ATM card minus any fees), the best Cambio rate available today was about 102.30 to 1.
Most places are giving between 95 and 100 right at this moment. Unless you are talking serious money (paying for the hotel, not a just bar tab or a meal) - the total difference is cents on the dollar, less than tip money...
Negril.com - For the vacation that never ends!
2 days ago we got 102.2 per dollar at a cambio in Montego Bay.
