So if we were to go spend the evening at Seastar eating and drinking,is it worth converting US dollars to Jamaican dollars??

You need to watch some of the smaller places, as they seem to be using the old conversion rate to their benefit.
Example - Had dinner at 3 dives last week. They are advertising their lobster dinner for 2500 J, or $28.00 US.
I noticed this in several other small places.

There is no need to convert money going to Seastar. There menu is priced in us$ and they will accept us$ and their current conversion rate is us$1 to j$100.
