I'm with ya on the beach vibe. Feel the same way, so for the first time going to do 7 nights on the beach and two on the cliffs to wind the trip down.

Spent 14 Years on the Beach. It was all about the Beach. Loved the Beach.

Tried Seastar Inn in 2006 for a change of pace. It is up off the West End Road, not far from Rick's Café. Technically not on the Cliffs, but in the neighborhood.

Been lucky enough to travel to almost 40 countries and island. Stayed at many different hotels, motels, B&B's, Inn and Hostels. Nothing compared to the experience at Seastar Inn.

Next 7 trips were all to Seastar Inn! I'm not going back to the beach!

    Enjoy,

You won't know until you try. I would recommend trying it on your next trip for 2 or 3 nights. I tried for 3 nights and learned I am a beach person who visits the cliffs, not the other way around.

Coming up on my 22nd trip this January...to Negril & every stay has been on the cliffs. Don't get me wrong I like the beach but as anyone will tell you the vibe on the cliffs is laid back opposed to the beach & I go to the beach most every day on my motorcycle. The fact that you can walk out of your property to a nice little local restaurant or bar..all those wonderful aromas of local foods being cooked up making there way up & down the West End Road. There's just nothing like going to sleep & waking up to the sound of Mother Ocean kissing those cliffs...nothing!!

I think the cliffs are very special but after two split stays at very nice properties, it is just not our thing. We're beach people. I get the allure, if you haven't stayed up there, try it, you may like it. The split isn't hard to do, and we did try both staying up there on the first part of the trip (to chill when you arrive) and the last few days (to chill before you go). For us, we liked the vibe and atmosphere, the privacy, the food is awesome and the people are great, but in the end it came down to the fact that we really, really love the beach.

Another thought to consider - if you are afraid of heights, the cliffs are not the best place for you.
