Since you mentioned "new" bands, I'll toss in the Bluebeats and the Slackers.

Curious, you ever take in the stoopid section at Jenny's? Good spot to eat breakfast and get your morning fix all while watching life go by......

SS...speaking of CD's there is a guy up on the westend that has all kinds of CD's for sale that he mixes up. Think he is located somewhere around Negril Escape but not positive. I bought a bunch from him in February for my son and he loved them all (my son is a big fan of slightly stooped). Does anyone know the guy I'm talking about? His name escapes me and would be nice to put a name with a face when I take my son to meet him in December! My tastes are more towards the Maytals , Dennis Brown, Peter Tosh, etc....and those CD's were just as good from him!

Over the years .. I've burnt CD's ..& taken them down (tips for Cabbies/bartenders Etc)
thinking of loading up a couple of USB sticks this time around
& am always on the look out for new music ..
last reach it was alot of Ska/Rocksteady
    usually buy 5-10 per visit

SS...I'll try and get a pic and location for you. My son is 19 and likes a wide range of music, I am partial to a lot of it too....listening to Dirty Heads right now. I think if you take music down to the guy on the cliffs you could barter and both come out winners

I'm not sure if it's roots reggae, but Montego Bay (Bobby Bloom) is the first reggae song I recall hearing the U.S. circa 1970.
And it's a song about visiting JA.

Another non-roots classic is Dreadlock Holiday by 10cc.
