    Re: Nightlife in February?

To attract more tourist to the island, the Jamaican-government Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment is making *moves* to *sell* February as "..Reggae Month.." ---- that is to say, for example, in brief & in-part, that they're *looking* for events/activities/etc. to '..hang-their-banner..' of *endorsement*.

ergo, there'll be a push to hop on the ReggaeMonth-designation bandwagon.

additionally, from an island-resident's point-of-view, from my personal observations, from past trips, Valentines Day is a BIG-Deal..!!..

whereas, ValentinesDay 2014 falls on a Friday, it's easy to imagine that that weekend is gonna be UN-believable with party-options.

    Ja-folks love-love-LOVE Valentines Day..!!..
    so,
of course, there'll be *something* for the tourist, but the better-parties are gonna be at the for-residents venues [[believe DAT..!!..]]

    lol
    lol
    lol

    whereas,
you're gonna be there for TWO-months(.!!!..),
    by about month-#2 you'll be *ready* for a change-of-pace
and antsy for some non-tourist stuff
    lol
    lol
    lol

    firstly,
    i haven't been on-island in 2-years,
    so,
    some things
    (which i'll *describe* below)
    *may* have changed since then

    however,
i'm pretty confident that things haven't changed that much

as somebody mentioned (above in this thread)
stay alert, and look-out for the various banners, signs, flyers, posters, etc that area always here & there around Negril ---- primarily at the round-about, near ValueMaster supermarket. Sometimes you'll see 'em stuck on utility poles and/or trees and/or on a building wall.

Inside stores & shops (such as beauty parlor/salon, or barber shops) you'll find flyers and/or small signs.

another good-place to check for announcements is around the Negril bus/car-park (over-by the police station) ....

[[[ off topic::>> f.y.i.... you'll probably stumble upon some GREAT eatin' places (daytime) around that bus park ]]]

    Sometimes,
you might run into some-somebody(s) passing out flyers, cards, etc announcing an event.

    in your case,
whereas you're staying in a WestEnd "..house.."
    i suggest that you chat-up your host/hostess and/or security-person(s), housekeeper(s), grounds-person(s), neighbors, etc. and tell 'em of your interest/desire to check-out *whatever* is scheduled/planned.

    i MUST mention,
that it's NOT a good idea under any circumstances whatsoever for ANY-event to do the '..advance ticket purchase..' thing-y ~~~ pay at the door, even if the price is a likkle higher.

    IF,
you hear-of, and opt to go over-to Lucea, GreenIsland, OrangeBay, SavLaMar, CousinsCove, LancesBay, BullsBay, etc etc for a night event, 'twould be a good idea to arrange a driver to take ya & bring ya back.

    which reminds me,
taxi-men and drivers KNOW where all the parties are gonna be. .... check with them.

    in fact,
    with a driver
you might be able to make an appearance at 2 or 3 parties ---- that should/could be big-fun..!!..

    I can easy-er-ly imagine,
you-all riding to a party in GreenIsland,
and along the way you see a large gathering of folks party-ing some(?)-place along the road.

'Twould be a GOOD-opportunity to tell the driver to-STOP ... so you-all could pop-in on the party for a drink, fun, music, snack, and then hop back in the car for the next-party.

    as i type,
    dunno why,
but a likkle-voice is whispering to me that some(?)-group such as the Negril Chamber of Commerce *might* be throwing a shindig some-place (e.g., at the Negril Golf Course club house). Those types of dress-up, hang-out with the big-folks events/parties can be VERY interesting and big-fun, as well.

    in closing,
that-*voice* whispered again::::>>> *might* be something going on at the round-about craft market beach area, or some other non-tourist beach-front location (e.g., Office of Nature vicinity, Waves, or that other public beach area, just beyond Cosmos, etc.)

keep ya eyes peeled, and your ears open
chat up people & let 'em know of your *interests*

    have fun
and PLEASE post and let us know whatcha do, and where you went, if you do.

    Smith,

It is not an uncommon sight to see Jamaicans out walking their dogs. And yes, they do have leashes and collars. By Canoe I will try to get that on camera during the webcasts on Thursday.

Where we live outside Negril, our neighbor walks his new puppy nearly every day, he is infatuated with that little cute puppy!

hey smith I won't be walking them all at once I'm not that crazy. but I always bring extra collars and leashes for the lady @ Moonlight/moonglow villa (?) she organises spay and neuter clinics from time to time and she requests ppl. to bring leashes and collars so if they don't have collars already I will hold 1 back. these dogs are well cared for so I believe they prob. have collars. when will u be arriving to Negril? I'm good at walking dogs my neighbor has 2 Newfoundlanders that I used to walk all the time should be no problem-mon. but we are getting off topic now unless you can advise on place to go party with the locals that allows dogs.LOL

    soon come

    but,
me NOT gonna go walking-dogs with you

    nope
    can't dew-wheat
    :-(

without going into a lot of details,
for some reason, Jamaican dogs (of all kinds) especially in tourists areas do not like me --- they always wanna bite me ...... in fact, one did one time.

    freaked me out one day,
at that popular beachfront bar 24/7(?)::::::: remember that silly itty-bitty likkle-likkle hyper white-ish dog they had there..???.... Even that likkle critter tried to attack me ----- while cuddling & licking everybody else.

my gut tells me WHY they don't like me, but i don't wanna believe my gut,,,, so i won't post the-why

AGAIN:::>> PLEASE post-back how the dog walking thing-y goes for ya, PLEASE.
