You can, but you can buy a brand new one, get credit for that new phone and not have to worry about unlocking the old phone... all for about $20-$25us... or many drivers will give you one for free to use when you book your airport transfers with them....

not often i disagree with statements that Rob makes, but i have to this time...

i also recommend buying a new phone if you dont already have a unlocked gsm phone laying around, but - i recently went in to a digcel, and bought the least expensive phone and a sim card and 500j local credit, and it was 3500ja - still not allot considering, but that is quite a bit more then 20-25$ it was more like $40ish.. btw, that 500 credit was all i needed for calling home a few times, and a few local calls.. i think a sim card alone is 500ja so if you have a old gsm unlocked phone, bring it - it might work, otherwise new ones are cheap..

Saw a cell phone advertised on the Digicel website for $30, but not sure if that included sim card or minutes.
