You can, but you can buy a brand new one, get credit for that new phone and not have to worry about unlocking the old phone... all for about $20-$25us... or many drivers will give you one for free to use when you book your airport transfers with them....

Go to craigslist and get a unlocked phone. I got a Pantech for 20 bucks and it works great.
Brought one of my old phones from at&t and it cost me about $20.00 to get it switched to Lime (Cable & Wireless) have been using it for the last three years w/o a problem.
I have a friend buy the 100j cards to keep it updated, and call them with the number and serial number of the card every month. Still building time on the phone until next reach.
I guess it depends on how many times a year you plan to go, if you go only once a year then the cheapest way to go is get a free phone from one of the drivers like Alfred and just buy some time.
Always use Kenny for transportation...free use of cell ...just buy credits.....best way to go.
