To get an A in freshman swim class you had to jump off the 10 meter board at the pool the last day of class. We were told to step off the board and drop off straight down. I did it with no problems, but it sure looked a long way down. The only guy in our class who had long hair and who lived a couple rooms down from me in the dorm, got up there and surprised everyone by doing a one and half off the board. Turns out he was a diver in high school.

I never jumped or dived off the cliffs at Rick's but I did at the cave. First time I threw caution to the winds and did a swan dive and cut the water perfectly vertical and had no problems. I also jumped off several times with no problems. Although I jumped out and away from the cliff, so I had my arms out and waving around to get my balance and just brought them tight to my body right before hitting the water. If you point your toes and tuck your chin and hit the water nice and straight, there is no pain or problem at all.
I am immensely impressed by some of the pictures that Bob (rjonsun) has of himself diving when he was well past the first bloom of youth. You have some a lot of guts.
