No worries...Lapurr...I knew it didn't sound like you! And, sometimes it's hard to interrupt what someone is trying to say on a forum.

LOL lapurr some of the lines are really funny but yeah there are the go betweeners now where everyone wants a slice of the pie or cake!
they just speed up the process probably for the shyer or lazy tourist and they get a cut too.
Some of the men are not comfortable with the initial approach either so they can sometimes get females to do it and vice versa.Pimp my cake! that is a tv programme (pimp my ride!)

For the newbie going down soon expect the offers of company trust me you will get some ONE at a minimum!
its a simple yes please or no thanks transaction, same as buying fruit or cigarettes!women do it too.I never see anything seedy going on everyone I see has great fun especially at the parties with their new found friends to accompany them!

    I'm the NEWBIE lol

Okay so can we go over this a bit I dont want to hijack your thread ..because I dont want to be naive and find myself in an awkward situation with any man
It seems that if a woman approaches me offering the "company" of a man they are pretty straight forward .. are the men like this as well ? I dont want to
have a gentlemen come up to just chit chat and me being friendly converse with him where he gets the wrong idea .. I also don't want to go down with this
jaded idea that every guy that approaches me is offering paid services lol or should I have this idea at all times ? This could be a very embarassing situation
for me .. and if I ever at any point feel insulted I'm really not one to bite my tongue.

In the tourist area which is the place you will be in,most men approaching you will want to sell you something be it a piece of fruit,a pack of cigarettes or a friendship bracelet for instance, or they may want to try to sell you a tour or offer you a taxi or a jetski ride OR ask you if you want a friend lolsome will ask you direct which you can just say yes or no too.Others may appear to really like you then ask you to wine and dine them.I am not saying you cannot have fantastic conversation with the men in the resort as you can but in my opinion and just being very honest with you as I experience it.If they are approaching you it is usually because they want something. If they are tring to sell you something give whatever it is a look because to be fair most things on the beach are what a newbie and oldies like!
There is a guy who pushes his bicycle and he sells patties he is one to wait for his food is lovely.
There is a guy with fruit
    a woman with fruit
a guy and a woman with cigarettes
men trying to sell snorkelling trips or boat rides
    Men selling costume jewelry
    or items of clothing

Don't be afraid that a man is approaching you but just be aware that they usually want to sell you something and if they are coming empty handed then~~~LOLOL only you can guess what their product may be they want to sell LOL
This is not just a man thing the females do it too
It is a huge part although maybe not noticeable to all of why some people flock to Jamaica -been happening for years
You will see a lot of local men with tourist ladies at some of the bars all having fun all dancing and having a beer and having fun-same with the ladies The outfits alone and dancing and the music is worth going to the bar for!
A lot of the guys usually start by asking where are you from and then they say they know that place or they have family who live there or they may say you are very beautiful or even ask to marry you LOL
They honestly can and probably will say allsorts .It has always been done lightheartedly with me and ends up in a bit of a joke but can't blame the people for asking because for every person who is saying no there must obviously be people who are saying yes.
Makesure you get to a webcast !and say hi to us all from that side of the screen

I'd just say no thanks, as you did with the aloe and hair braiding. No reason to get all upset.

On my last trip a lady was asked if she wanted some fun with a rasta, she pointed at me and "said i'm with him" the guy beat a fast exit, i still not sure how to take that.
