A lot more people die from the flu every year than are likely to die from Ebola. US estimates indicate that there are 5,000 to 10,000 flu deaths a year.

I was watching CNN live yesterday when the CDC was being grilled about the EBOLA cases and one of the panel members mentioned that Jamaica put a travel ban in place to help prevent it from entering Jamaica and why aren't the states doing the same thing. ???? My same question

I saw that on CNN yesterday too.

One congesswoman asked the doctor on the panel if the U.S.A. should seal its borders including the border with Canada. I had to laugh because Canada does not have a single case of even a suspected case of Ebola while the U.S. does. Shouldn't Canada be sealing of its border with the U.S.A.?

Anyway, will there be a point in the future where travel on a plane will make me nervous, maybe! But that time is not now and for those that are going to Jamaica in the next little while I would say that any fears you have are not warranted. With that said, I would not book a holiday now that I do not plan to take for some time to come because when that time comes in a few months from now, who knows what the situation will be then.

I'm not canceling my trip to Negril next week, however it would be my luck that I'll contract chick-v, and start displaying symptoms just as I'm leaving Negril. People will freak out thinking I have Ebola, then I'll be quarantined, setting off a wide-spread panic.

All kidding aside, I am a little concerned about how quickly possible ebola cases are popping up all over the country due to air travel. I'll just be extra diligent about hand washing and observing people around me.
