Sea weed and sargassum at negril beach and bloody bay?

    Hi,
I plan a trip to the bloody bay in juley and want to know how the situation currently is. I read a lot of negative information related to the amount of plants and the smell. Is there really so much of it? Any news would be helpful. Thanks a lot in advance and good night.

I have been making trips to all the beaches for the past few weeks and have not seen any sargassum anywhere. Small patches are affecting Puerto Rico today:

I was diving off Ambergris Caye in Belize in May and seaweed was much worse on that trip than when I was there three years ago.

Three years ago, they raked the beaches clear of seaweed every morning but now they have given up.

Rest assured, Negril is no being bothered by seaweed. I called Royalton, Boardwalk Village Resort, Charela Inn and Travellers and they are taken back that someone would compare the situation in Belize, which gets the direct eastern Atlantic current hitting their beaches, while the Negril beach is protected by the Western prevailing currents that block the seaweed.

My advice is to skip the seaweed in Belize and enjoy the seaweed free beaches of beautiful Negril!
