I understand about the attitude. That's no fun at all. One guy who hung around Rick's last trip was so rude whenever I passed...it annoyed him that I wasn't shopping. I'd walk by several times a day, saying hi to everyone including him. He would just yell out how I was stuck up, racist, you name it, so after a day I didn't greet him anymore as I did his neighbor vendors. When I was ready to shop the day I was leaving Negril you know I gave all the other vendors some business but not him. We never had a confrontation, though, he was yelling at the breeze behind my back

I think of Negril Beach as "the stroll" of Negril...problem is, it is so much more than that and many folks don't want or expect "the stroll" to come to them there...but many do!

they are NOT Rastafari...just men with locs
Is there some sort of demand for Rasta's in the Giggilo business? lol I dont know why but I find this funny lol If any woman wants to get nasty with me because I don't want something she is selling then it's fair game and I'll say exactly what I want.

I've been to Cuba close to 15 times now and trust me the spanish are smooth talkers.. lol this is nothing new to me and if a man wants to tell me how beautiful I am he can go right ahead I might even like to hear it but that doesnt mean I'm buying them anything.

I think that you had every right to feel insulted. The way you wrote it portrayed a nasty vibe it wasn't hard for me to pick up on it I'm not a fan of passive aggressive behaviour.

And thank you to everyone who added their suggestions I think I'll keep to the idea that every man on the beach has an alterior motive .. what a shame...

Smith..I agree with you, I'm a true believer that bad behaviour at home is bad behaviour anywhere just as you stated no exceptions no excuses.

I'm starting to think that maybe I don't need to be in Negril for 5 days of my trip :s It's beautiful but now I have to constantly expect the worst from every local ?? This isn't something I've dealt with before .. I tend to travel to get to know about a coutnry and it's people .. not to dodge getting hustled every day This is one of the major reasons why I'm upset I'm not going to hang with Andre spending 3 days in St. Beths in the country was soemthing I was really looking forward to.

So . . . my wife walks the road - into town and back - she goes to the gym at Couples- walks the road there and back early in the day. She gets pestered on the road, relentlessly - EVERY time.
When she walks the beach alone - same thing, but not as bad - the road is worse.
It annoys her, pisses her off, even. But it's part of the Negril package.
The thing is - it's the old supply and demand rule. There are a lot of Renta's because the demand is high.
There are a lot of female sex tourists in Negril, many repeat customers.
Just like there are a lot of prostitutes because the demand is high.
    Part of the package.

I've witnessed and heard even more tales of naïve visitors, mostly women, who’d met Jamaican sweethearts while vacationing on the island. When they got back home, they’d communicate frequently and fervently with their newfound loves, sending money when their tropical soul mates inevitably (and continually) had a sudden and dire need of cash.
“Send it by MoneyGram. When will it be here? My Grandma is very, very sick, and she needs medicine. Please send it today!”
On subsequent visits to the island they’d continue to be wooed against the intoxicating backdrop of warm tropical breezes, the enchanting rhythms, the sweltering sun, the beach, and the attention that many of them so desperately craved. And the sex, it was incredible! Every afternoon and then in the evening too – hot, steamy and sultry. Eventually some would decide to commit themselves to their southern sweethearts, often making big, sacrificial changes in their lives to do so.
    And so it goes.
Sadly, the great majority of these tales end badly when the ladies (or men) discover that they are just one of several who are being duped by their paramours for money and trinkets. This usually happens when their island sweetie gets so many other girlfriends on the hook that they are unable to resolve scheduling conflicts. The result is a decision, based solely on monetary factors, as to which sucker gets dumped.

    Part of the package . . .
