    Tensing pen pricing

We have been considering tensing pen and just saw a pricing list. Basically 450 per night which does include taxes etc. we have stayed at Catcha and idle awhile and swept away among others so are used to paying but this appears to be super high. Comments please

Did you check pricing in the off season? Peak season those places are pretty spendy.

Yes, off-season pricing is much better. You could do a garden cabin in the high season for less, but if you are staying at Tensing, I'm guessing you want a room closer to the water. I stayed in one of the pillars years ago and it was beautiful, but I wouldn't stay with those high season rates. JMO.

    Here's the deal

I agree offseason prices are better.

We have been to Tensing Pen more than 20 trips, We have traveled to Costa Rica, Panama, Bahamas, Virgin's. Tensing Pen is one of those very special places. We love to visit other places but no year is complete without a trip to TP. There is a vibe at TP to don't have everywhere. There are enough places on the property you can have to yourself but it is perfect for mingling with others and making friendships that last a lifetime. The staff is friendly, dogs are great, Walking distance to many great places to eat.

TP is a special place and pictures don't do it justice even though they are beautiful you really have to experience it.

Is it worth the price?? YES !!

If there is any one negative service in the lodge can be slow but we are on Jamaica time and it is such a relaxing space we don't mind.

The Jamaican saying is "Once you go you know" and this is so true of Tensing Pen. Treat yourself you won't be disappointed.

We're not going to Negril this year for the first time in a decade. I'm bumming about missing Tensing Pen more than I am about missing Jamaica. With that said, we're low season visitors and not sure I'd pay the high season price.

The prices sure have changed! My first time in Negril, in Jan,1980, I stayed there. It was $30.00 per night or $175.00 per week. Richard was still building it...Jefmaka

Personally, paying about $450 a month to stay in Jamaica sounds more reasonable than $450 per night. Same ocean, same beaches, same sunset, etc. etc.

Maybe if you promised to put Bob Marley and His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I in an adjoining cabin I might scrape up enough for one night!

    Just my opinion.

Tensing Pen is a very nice property as is the Rockhouse and others, but here is a recommendation for you. For $350 night including all taxes, you as an individual or a couple can stay at Little Waters Villa with your own pool, a Chef, House Keeper and Gardener/Security. It has a cave and a walkway down to the water, cliff jumping and you have a whole house. Granted, there isn't a bar or restaurant but Delkia can cook with the best, it is an unbelievable property. It is out next to Idle aWhile just past Out of Town Pastry. 3 individuals or couples can get the whole 3 bedroom house for $650 night off-season(don't forget to tip the staff when leaving). I do not represent this property, so it's not a sales pitch, I have stayed there.

It's all about perspective. I easily drop $10,000 for my annual trip to the island when airfare, hotel, tips and etc are figured in. To me though... It's cheap. I work every day of the week for the rest of the year. That time off is literally all I get over the course of the year. Maybe one day, I can take a month off and live in the hills, but for now... Life demands a lot out of me, and the few dollars spent for that trip each year are never poorly spent in my mind. Tensing Pen offers a relaxation and recharge unlike any other experience I have ever had. Even the year that did not go so well for me personally while on the island was made better by the people at that resort.

I agree! my first stay was in May and now I'm hooked and will definitely splurge staying at this property every chance I get!
