I've never been asked about my return trip nor is there a place to write your return trip info.

Isn't this the form they still use? This is where you have to write your return trip info.

If it is not filled out properly, you will not get it stamped (I believe)

I stand corrected......That is the form they still use and I guess I haven't paid attention to it. I fill it out but obviously not with correct info.
