Slightly under ripe fruit are also enjoyed with salt & pepper or hot sauce...we eat our June plums this way.

    Other items I enjoy...
Blue Draws...solid pudding with corn, green banana, sweet potato or yam, spices and sweetened
Run Dung...fish dish made with thick, savory sauce made from coconut milk
Gizzada...a tart with coconut, sugar, nutmeg
    Bammy...cassava bread
Festival...slightly sweet flavoured dumpling made with flour & cornmeal
Grater cake...dried coconut, ginger and often rose water
Coconut Drops...dried coconut with vanilla, nutmeg & ginger usually

Cosmos restaurant has Red Pea soup with pig tail that I adore...but not often found.
    Stew oxtail most anywhere.
I don't know how the above dishes became favourites...I couldn't even eat chicken with bone in it 15 years ago...had to get over that also!

Bnewb, thanks for the tip on the June plums. The first time I had them many years ago in Green Island, I thought the were called "Juke" plums because of the little spikes in them.

Bob...those spikes are something else...interesting fruit! As the fruit ripens those spikes ripen and disappear into the fruit.

Run Dung??? Autocorrect victim, Bnewb? Personally, I love Run Down, but shy away from Run Dung!

You're right about Cosmo's having some great soups and I always order up the Oxtail Stew. The texture of the fatty bits is sublime. Some of the bakery treats are available from "Bready" who beeps his scooter horn and shouts "Bready, Bready" as he hawks his treats. --Marblehead

    Lmao Marblehead...no autocorrect.
It's actually called Run Dung or an old term Dip and Fall back Run Dung. Probably changed to Run Dun or Run Down for the very reason you would "shy away from" it.

If you are worried about something, do something about it. If there is nothing you can do, why worry!
