Its always the same story, no matter what they are selling............In Jamaica, WHY do they raise or increase anything to the tourist...?..during the leaner times....if times are slow, why not "entice" the tourist to come there.???
The shops/stores all do the same ....business slow??=raise the prices to make up for it.....( that usually doesn't work)
"One of the laundry gals pipes up ,,"LOOK AT DA BLOOD"

If you have already purchased tickets are you "grand fathered" in ?? I am travelling next week and hope not to be hit with the extra fees while leaving the country.

No one knows when it will actually go into effect though? Its only on tickets purchased when it goes into effect?

If you buy the tickets before it goes into effect they shouldnt be able to charge you.

Instead of penny whipping everyone they should be looking at the big picture and seeking to entice the tourists back to the island. The economy is rough everywhere but when tourist don't come to Jamaica, their economy is even worse because it is so dependent upon the tourist dollar due to the lack of other industries. JCAA already is operating in the black, should they be looking to profit in this manner? Who will benefit from airport enhancements if nobody is coming in?

Airfares have increased not only because of the fuel costs but volume of passengers changed as well. Available flight patterns seem more convoluted, with multiple stops and configurations I have never seen before. The airlines are trying to fill their seats on every flight anyway they can. This is not conducive to bringing more people to Jamaica either. Who wants to fly from New York to Toronto to Miami just to get to Montego Bay for a reasonable fare? 14 hours travel time for what could easily be a 3.5 to 6 hour trip.

I can't cope with it -one visit I paid at least £1300 in all sorts of taxes and fees for 5 of us in total on top of that they decided to up the departure fare without notice which they can do whenever they feel like.
And now this.It is absolutely ridiculous and I am fed up of it.After this next holiday I doubt I will be booking many more until the day I come on a one way ticket to stay there as the fares and taxes are just getting out of control. It is actually the most expensive place in the world for me to travel to right now.Barbados hawaii and the maldives is plenty cheaper.Very sad.
