Sweetie Pie wants to know, what's the cheesiest Negril tourist activity?

I just don't get it when people judge anyone on what they think is fun and how they spend their vacation....Hats off to the Captain for being secure enough with him self to say he could enjoy an afternoon at M'ville and likes Cruises...WE are all tourist in some way...I love being a tourist that is what we all do on Vacation. But I didn't answer the question about what is cheesiest thing I have seen...Here is mine...Seeing a bunch of folks load up on a bus and head off to the Pelican Bar where beers cost just as much as Rick's and a local has never spent one minute there as a patron. I have taken a boat out there 20 years ago to that reef and fished for snapper and snook....It killed me when they built the bar and all the touriest showed up....If you look at all the pictures posted here we don't all peg the "cool" meter.... It's ironic that this post showed up on the top tourist site about Jamaica...No harm no foul but I try not to judge and don't want to be judged......but I guess I just did..I guess I will put on my Rasta Tam with dread locks and speak broken patios as I order my Cheesbuger in Paradise and sing along with Jimmy then head on up to Ricks for sunset...I found three of the tokens I bought many years ago..are they still good????

Don't like your polling system. How about if we pick a Negril charity that pulls the heart. I don't know ...maybe. one that helps sick and abandoned puppies!!! That might slide the vote in the correct direction!! Surely Sweetheart Pie is fond of puppies!

I know it's a tease for chesse and i have seen plenty over the years but like I said it's your vacation,I don't like mville havent been to Rick's since the 80's but if that's what you like fine with me.Don't like rent a dreads or working girls or booger sugar but if that's what you go for enjoy and be safe.

Yea, I'll just add that if it weren't for those "cheesy" things we did on our first trip, we might not have had the urge to return to Negril and discover the less touristy adventures...

Now as for those things, eating at BK is the one I regret most!

One persons cheese is anothers Caviar. We have done most of the "cheesey" suggestions and had fun doing them all. The last couple trips Bet has been talking about a couple small braids with beads so I think we'll try that this reach.However with our count down I don't think I have time to grow enough hair. I'll have to find some other cheesey tourist activity.

That is perfectly stated LLAP. I'm just looking for the consensus. Sweetie Pie says "No way on the braids!" when I mentioned it was doing well, then, "So how would YOU get them done?" ha ha...

Margaritaville has lifeguards, lockers, security, and no pressure to buy anything while on the property. If you can stand the Jimmy Buffet music; it's a good place to swim.
Any other beach places offer all that? Bueller?

Unfortunately, the musical side of the place isn't real appealing. Don't hate his music but the guy? Not so much...

$10,000J? I hope that included top shelf liquor, lobster and steak! Can't really add to this list - my local friend brought me to Rick's once and I asked "what did you bring me here for?" just not my thing at all, beat it outta there with the quickness!

Sweetie Pie was not big on the Ricks vibe either, we were there maybe 10 minutes in February.

I agree with Poolguywindsor I like margaritaville and ricks. Both overpriced but I just dont buy alot of drinks. I have 10 newbies coming in feb and I am sure we will visit both.

I don't know about cheesy but I can say overated would be Ricks Cafe!!! They boost that it has the best sunsets on the island (which cliff location doesn't??), best atmosphere (if you like a bunch of crowds), allows you to jump from the cliff and see "professional" divers jump (you can do that from any cliff location and you have to "donate" to get them to jump which you can see them from one of the other close by locations)........... I could go on but I will stop there.

so my vote is Ricks Cafe.

I cruise just to be aboard a ship again and we sure don't mind the service.

We cruise Holland America because it a more mature crowd and some of the ship's Masters today were junior officers that sailed on my ships and I get to spend a few watches on the bridge.

Even though I lived and worked in Ja I see nothing wrong with visiting the tourist places. My Jamaican family loves to visit those places too!

Dunn's River Falls is one of the top tourist attractions on the Island and we used to go there and picnic with the kids and loved it every time.

Some think that by doing the tourist thing it paints you as "uncool" and not "hip to the scene" (forgive the old school language)

Gurigay, my tongue was planted firmly in my cheek as I typed my response. I simply say to each his on.....I love to watch the buss unload at M'ville....Many of those folks go home and tell stories of how they got out of the AI and saw the real Jamaica....Many of them get brave enough to walk off the property and see why many folks here like the random happenings of the strand and actually discover a new way to see Negril and move on from the programmed activities of the AI or Cruise...We did....almost 24 years ago...I love the age of discovery...
