I think it is best to deal in Jamaican dollars. I wouldn't exchange at the airport though...wait until you reach and either use a cambio or the bank..the rates are better. Have a wonderful time in paradise!

DON'T exchange at the airport. I came home yesterday and their rate was $74J/$1US. In Negril at the Cambio I was getting $90J/$1 (Candian but both are close).

Cambio is basically just a money exchange. You can exchange at a bank in Negril or at a cambio... depends on where you are staying as to which is closer.

I read there is one across from Times Square - near Bourbon Beach. Usually you are buzzed in for security.

bfal - from Grand Pineapple, facing the ocean, go left down the beach until you reach a bar/restaurant called bourbon beach (5 minute walk). Cut through and walk to the road. At the end of their "driveway/entrance" (close to the road) is a white building I believe the signs says "Trends Financial". That is the cambio. Doorbell/buzzer by the door facing the road. Ring it and they will buzz you in. If you have a private driver for your airport transfer, you can also ask him to stop at a cambio on your way to Negril.
