Oh an w'ere flying United for the first time. Just not sure what to think of that!!! Anyone had experience with them? Good? Bad?
Is that out of Saskatoon? In the past we used air miles to fly on northwest (Delta) direct to MSP, then purchase direct flights from there. But in the last couple years airmiles changed it to using air Canada thru Toronto then MSP. Makes no sense at all. They charge more air miles to fly to Toronto then to fly to Minneapolis going thru Toronto. Since we are going away around Christmas there were no seats available anyways.

booger- I think you are talking about a different points program. The Canadian airmiles does not offer first class options.

I don't know, one of the great things about Jamaica was the great rates for airfare and easy access. We were Continental flyers out of Newark, NJ. Now we are United. They used to fly every day. Now they only fly out on Sat or Sun. Oh well. Then they moved the 7 am flight to 10. We have done a lot of switching around. We have tried a number of ways. In Jan '12 our air fare was $248 r/t pp. In May we planned the trip rather late and it was around $500 we paid with points. We flew out of Philly with a park stay and fly plan on a Weds. We are planning a trip for '14 with our family out of Philly and the flights are around $420. Guess that is what it is. We will be paying with miles. We want to bring our "kids" along for this trip so they can be part of our vacation experience for the past 6 years. But I must say, all things considered, we will be looking at other island vacations for future trips. The airfare is now on par with a number of islands that seem very much like places we would like to explore. Jamaica taught us that eating local is a fabulous way to go. There is good food on all the islands. I think after this family trip we will be branching out, all things considered. Heck if we have to pay around 500 we could pretty much go anywhere and do things at a reasonable rate. I don't like the idea of leaving Jamaica behind, but we can go to many islands considering the airfare difference....

Wow, lotta a different prices. Sounds like the upper east coast throws out some better numbers.Chicago is the best we can do. Its a five hour drive with tickets 450-650. We usually park, stay ,and ride.Thats another 100 plus a extra day off work and we still get lousy drive home.We can fly local for 850-950.

So just to step on Jamaican soil and come home, $3700.00 Ouch.
I got WestJet out of Regina for 800 pp. That's a lot for non direct flights in my opinion but I got a killer deal on a Condo so I am OK with it. My wife and I are used to connecting flights as we used to do entertainment tours for the Canadian Military. You haven't flown until you spend 24 hours trying to get to Israel and Egypt. LOL!
