    Juta Ride

I plan on using JUTA to travel to Negril next week and wondering if you would need to book this in advance and if they have a website that I can book through, or can you just book when you get through customs???

when you get through customs, just go to JUTA desk and tell them you want a transfer to Negril ($25) and you'll be on your way. i have always gotten to Negril this way.

I too wondered how you pulled this off and how much it cost. We have enjoyed our private drivers over the years but we would like to try and save a little money one of these trips.

2 X 25 = 50 and you wait for the bus to fill up and no personal stops.

For approximately another 3 - 4 bucks each you get a private car with stops and a loaner phone.

    Make sense?

Even though I said "we" I was actually considering it for a solo trip I may pop soon. I travel A LOT and sometimes I just want to get someplace and don't need the extras. I don't have a need to make stops anymore, I just want to get where I am going. I have done the exact math you displayed and that is why we take a private driver, $60 plus a tipseems to be the going rate at least for anyone I have talked to, but for one person it seems like a bit of wasted $$$.

I was thinking the same thing, Cap. IMO you're really not saving any money when you factor in waiting on the bus and not being able to stop where you want. I'd much rather spend that time enjoying some jerk chicken and a Red Strip with my private driver.

I learned that lesson on my first trip, when we arrived in Negril fatigued and hungry, after a trip on the JTL bus.

Different strokes, but I rarely feel the need to tip a negotiated fare unless the driver really went above and beyond in some way.

Depending on where you are staying, it can be a good number of stops letting off tourists before you get where you are going. Six on the last time I went to the airport from Negril on the bus.

When I travel solo..I do Clives shared ride rate..its about 30$ one way..over half the time I have been the only one in the car so is in reality a private ride many times..if you do share..its usually just one other party..they don't make you wait too long either..
