Those who have been thru this before have plenty of gas cans to stock up. A 5000w generator will run 8-9 hours at half load, so one needs to load up on gas. You can run for a few hours to get the fridge nice and cold and than turn it off for a few hours, so 5 gals a day is doable. Most places can get by easily with a smaller generator such as a 4000w. This will power a fridge start up as well as keep the fans and lights on.
