No worries here, I know I can come across as being curt sometimes. I just tend to say exactly what I'm thinking, all the time. The empress at home still has issues with it, so I realize it can be abrasive.
But when I am being judgy, there is no mistaking it.

Thanks again! I can be a straight up ***** on text.... don't always mean it! I can certainly see your point, it seems like paying on top of paying... that's the feeling I get when people who stay at sandals or csa or Riu want to know the best places to eat or drink... why would you pay after you've already paid... so I see your point. But honestly, it's just me, I travel alone for now, so a few extra bucks here and there are built into my travel budget. I always worry about being too cheap, actually.

Hope we are in a good spot, you and me! Thanks again!

For sure, and I'm with you on tipping on a drink, and I would probably give a couple bucks to the greeter, I just thought $10 a bit steep. I was thinking of how many people do they greet and take through to the lounge in a given day? A hundred? I really don't know, but doing the math on $10/pp (if everyone were so generous) that would be a real nice gig. The only thing that does sometime irk me about tipping everywhere is the expectation it tends to create, and feeding the "beggy beggy" thing. I tend to tip modestly where appropriate, and more generously when I feel someone truly went above and beyond.

And yeah, we're good for sure. There is really only one person on this site that I don't care for, and he knows who he is. I have no issues with you in any way, and I never have. I do think you are overly generous, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I like that you're enthusiastic about Jamaica, need more people that are positive. Keep doing what you do, but give the west end a shot one of these trips. It may not suit your style, but it's a different experience entirely to stay there rather than just spending part of the day. Respect boss lady.

I'm a maniac with the tipping as well. Here in the states too. The bartender and outside staff at my country club love me.

I used to work in the service industry. I try to give back.

I like to get the arrival and departure bundle.

I tip my arrival representative about $10 us ( travel solo ).
I tip the person who watches the bags a dollar a bag - I'd do two if they had to do any lifting or moving
I tip the waitress or waiter a dollar a drink in the lounge

Unassociated with the CMB is the Red Cap Porter who may handle your luggage out to your shuttle or taxi. I tip $2 a bag for this service.

I tip the same for the person who loads my bag into the van.

I tip my shuttle driver $10 each way.

Upon departure, go through the typical airport check in processes, then to security where you present your CMB voucher for the fast track. You have no one to tip up to this point. Once through security, go up the stairs and bear right through the duty free and past several fast food and retail shops.

Approach the CMB reps and present your voucher. They will direct you either straight ahead or towards the elevator/stairs to go downstairs.

I tip the waitstaff or bartender (depending on where I end up sitting) $1 a drink.

If you book an extra service like the spa or something, you would tip the service provider accordingly, but I've not had an additional services.

I like to budget out what I will need and store that amount in a separate envelopes. When the plane is getting ready to decend, I like to take a small pouch (which is holding my "arrival cash" envelope) into the bathroom and put my cash into my pocket so I have it right there... the $10 in one pocket, and the $1's in the other. That way I have it ready and don't have to fumble with my wallet at the airport. I do something similar for my departure. I just don't like taking out my wallet if I don't have to.

    Enjoy the services!!!
I do the same as you! I always get the bundle package and tip for good service... a little goes a long way Happy Travels all!

I am also a member of Overtippers Anonymous, but only if service is being provided, no handouts. I feel that anyone that is working deserves a little help as I'm sure the boss man is already getting at least his fair share.

    Re: Tipping at Club Mobay

I find costs for things in Jamaica a very similar to what we pay at home so for me I tip as I would at home. I too am in the service industry and tipping someone for a job well done is important to me. On the other hand if someone does a poor job or acts like an a**hole it will be reflected in the tip I give.

Funny story though, we were sitting in a local Jamaican establishment (won't name) and a worker brought me a beer which I paid for and I handed him a tip of one US dollar. He threw it back on the table and said "what am I going to do with one dollar!". I picked up my beer and my dollar and walked away.
