Day Three
We continued with our usual morning ritual of not doing much. Our only plan for that day was the Seastar webcast. For most of the afternoon we hung around the hotel and took some pictures and video of our surroundings. We eventually made it down to the water and I took a dip in. Beth is not much of a swimmer so she decided to watch. After I was done with my swim we hit the sun so I could dry off and then it was up to the room to arrange pickup, chill and get ready.
At one point we were discussing how there are so many little nooks at the castle. The property isn't all that large and yet it seemed we were discovering something new everyday. Around the same time we were discussing this I noticed a crack peeking out from a rasta carving that hung on the wall. As I moved in to get a closer look the crack got bigger and bigger. I slid the carving aside and low and behold there was a fairly large hole in the wall. As I peered in I thought I could see something stashed way back inside the hole. I was a little leery about sticking my hand in but I had to know what was in there. As I reached in I was waiting for something to bite or grab me. I assumed someone stashed their trash in there but whatever it was it had some weight to it. When the light hit it I could see it was a full unopened bottle of Tanqueray Gin! We got a really big laugh out of this. We had a gift bearing magical rasta carving in our room! We made sure to leave an offering to the magic rasta carving before we left so that the next guests would be blessed by him as well.
The following video is a reenactment:
It was too late to eat lunch but I was going to need a little something to tide me over till dinner. We head over to L&M for some snacks when we hear the guys from Pee Wee’s calling our names. We wave back and I look at Beth…”shall we”? We head over to Pee Wee’s after we leave L&M and eat our snacks and have a couple of drinks.
After a short visit we head back to the room to freshen up and wait for the seastar shuttle. As I sit on the balcony I can hear other guests below discussing getting a ride to seastar. I let them know a shuttle was already stopping at the hotel for us. Unfortunately it was there a little too early for them but they were able to arrange pickup the next time through.
As we drive down the road we start playing the same game of spotting places we recognized. We were both surprised by how lush it was the further we drove down the road. We liked it more and more the further we went. We walked into Seastar and it was bigger than expected. Much busier too. Shortly after getting seats at the bar and a couple of drinks the other guests from our hotel show up. At one point I stop and introduce myself to Rob and warn him that I may have some family that could be in chat looking for us. I gave him permission to kick them out of chat if they get annoying. Of course I knew Rob was too professional to ever do it.
On this particular night there was a lady celebrating her 99th birthday who owned the dance floor. What an inspiration she was. The show was MUCH better live and in person then it is online….MUCH better! The food is good and it all made for a nice night out. I’d recommend it to just about anyone. We eventually decide to get a ride back to the hotel. It seemed we had just missed a full ride and were told another ride would be available in a few minutes. I was still hot from just walking off the dance floor so I was glad to have a chance to cool down a bit. It wasn’t long before we were shown to the car that would take us back. As I stepped into the back seat I knew I was in no ordinary taxi. I didn’t catch what type of car I got into but I don’t think you’ll find many taxi’s with leather seats in Jamaica. The driver introduced herself as Francine and then it all clicked. I don’t think Beth was aware of the connection at this point and slipped her a couple of ones for a tip as we exited the car at our hotel.
