Thanks rronnie....After hearing such different prices in this thread I'm wondering how Lime can sell something that runs $20 while Digicel sells it for $45??? Is Digicel that much better or is Lime trying to get a bigger chunk of the market share by slashing their prices?? Is it brand loyalty?? Things that make you go hmmmm....
Not sure about market share or brand loyalty, but in my opinion Digicel has much better coverage than Lime. Last two trips we were in Kingston, Portland, Negril, and Mandeville and noticed that Lime's service is much spottier than Digicel. It wasn't as bad in Kingston or Negril, but was much more noticeable while traveling. We even had trouble getting good reception in our room at the Beach Club Condos in Negril summer before last. We had to go out on the balcony to get a good signal when we were in the main building that also houses the Beach Club Resort (old Mariners) front desk.Originally Posted by butch
I would recommend getting a cheap unlocked tri or quad band phone, or having an old phone unlocked like others have already mentioned. We have done this the past three years with two different unlocked phones and didn't have any trouble whatsoever. We did however have one of the cheap phones break on us only after two weeks of use.
