Funny you mention grilled cheese sandwiches - when I first asked for one here in Negril back in 1985 - I got a very puzzled look from the chef, but he did eventually bring me a sandwich with the cheese grilled, the bread wasnt grilled, just the cheese - which had to have been quite a challange..... it would seem to me that us North Americans got that placed on many a menu in town.... I have had some very interesting food interpretations when in JA, the worst of which was a grilled cheese sandwich from sharks (although everything else they made me was delicious), I think I will pass on the jamaican schnitzel and stick to the snapper and ackee I have grown to love.
