I know he is not off the island I have no idea why if David is who you were trying to see someone would tell you that. I was said hi to by him on the telephone twice so far this week while he was standing in the xtabi bar. I knew all this happened before you posted it and i didnt know a name. That bartender felt like crap about the lack of there machinery working as also that evening the wifi was down which causes problems with other of there computer systems as well. I speak to members of this staff almost daily i do not at all condone what happened with the credit card machine but that was in no part Kevins fault and I am sure Donna just wanted to make certain there was enough credit on that card. Did they handle it wrong by US standards , yes. But, if this were usa how do you think it would have been handled had that been a 1000.00 bill. Remember that 100 US in Jamaica is more than a weekly wage for most workers. Taking just a paper scan of what could be an inactive or at it's limit card could have easily costed a staff member a job. I am sorry you felt threatened but so did every employee involved because if that card turned out to not have credit some family could be homeless and starving in the near future. I am sorry to put it so severely but that is the Jamaican reality side of this. I would be pissed , yes very , very but I would step back and look at it from Jamaican standards and understand the urgency.

What you said makes perfect sense and I think you put it quite well. May I say one thing though.....out of everything that happened.... when someone picks up a phone and threatens to call the Negril police on me,,,I have a problem.... and yes I understand that I could have been sticking them for the bill...but IF that was my intent... I had my credit card in my hand and could have left the night before. Instead I gave Kevin my driver's license and promised to return the following morning. Does that REALLY seem like the actions of a person wanting to scam them rather than honestly pay for the meal???

Hey Misty, sorry to hear your last evening had an extended and unpleasant finale. My takeaway from this is never, ever spend the last of my cash when in travel mode.

Since the owner responded on TA, perhaps you can contact him there privately and tell him what happened when you returned the next day.
