    Re: Cliff jumping death

This whole situation makes me so sad. My heart goes out to the family of this young man. I am sure that he and his friends/family were having the time of their lives right before this tradegy. I am also sure, that ALL of us have made many judgement errors in our lifes. Let's not be so quick to point fingers.

I absolutely LOVE Negril and feel like it is my second home. I don't want it to change a bit, BUT......when things like this happen, I can't help but think that maybe (and I can't believe that I am saying this) a FEW regulations or checks and balances might be needed. Again, I always say that the fact that there are few rules, signs etc.. in Negril is why I like it so much. (unlike my sign and regulation filled country that I live in, which BTW I also love). I am afraid there is no "right" answer. I will continue to pray for this family.

This is very sad. I wonder how many serious, non fatal accidents go unreported there. I am not sure I'd be able to go back to the music and drinking as posted in the comments section of the article had I witnessed that. So much sad news this week. I think I may go news-free for a few days.

Blessings sent to all his loved ones. Sadly, being as old that I am...we have all done things that could have gone wrong. My heart is saddened with the loss such a young man and my heart goes out to all.

Tizzy so agree with you on this, heart goes out to the friends and family in this tragedy. How about we show a little "respect" to the people on the Forum who lost a young beautiful soul way to soon!

In this life WE ALL take risks...sometimes just crossing the street. Please, there is no need to be mean about this tragic accident.

Something needs to be done about the medical support for Negril. Millions of dollars are spent there....why no ambulance? Seems like if you get into any sort of medical issue, might as well take a taxi, they drive fasta.

    Negril Hospital soon come.......

But first the Tourist Minister must spend approx $4,000,000 US on fixing the public beach, craft market, sidewalks, and other misc crap to draw tourist. Solid healthcare would draw more, especially the retired crowd who probably spend more time in Negril.

My condolences to family and friends of this young man.. not only dealing with the death of their young son but will also have to deal with bringing him back home..
The man could have been an experienced diver and still suffered the same tragedy-bad things happen even when no one is at fault. For any of you to bad-mouth him and his judgement or character i hope you never have to deal a similar fate with your loved one..

Jam is a 3rd world country with limited resources...Even if there is an ambulance, a hospital,etc... you have to realize its not the same nor does it function the same as in the states..You do take a greater risk with your life and health when visiting a country with limited health resources..thats just a fact...That being said, its hard to believe a place like ricks doesnt have better handle on its basic life/health emergency equipment...an empty o2 bottle ??!!

again, my sympathies to this mans family and friends..rip...

So sad. My thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of this young man. My kids are in their 20s and have jumped off the high platform there many times over the years to my dismay. Probably would be a good idea to only let the Jamaican professionals jump from that high. Pirate's Cave (now Pushcart) used to allow people to jump there but not anymore.
