Ok in this thread mentioned a couple of times sarcastically is "Nachos in Jamaica", while I admit it sounds strange, and until Rob turned me onto the Nachos at 23/7 I too scoffed at the mere mention of Nachos in Jamrock. But am I glad I tried them, when it was open 23/7 had some of the best nachos on the planet. Granted a New York influence, but none the less made in Jamaica. Wicked nachos, I mean wicked.

Love for the "soon come" nachos

Even though I am from the birthplace of "Poutine" I would not expect to see a Jamaican version on the Seastar menu! Even though it may complement the wings real well at Sunday NFL game afternoons at.the hotel!
That made me laugh out loud and spit my drink nearly on my computer. Thanks Dash

Fred, not lecturing man, but just calling it how I see it. Don't take a difference of opinion as an insult. I'm the last guy to sit behind a keyboard and take shots at others.

An Oriental is a person from the east. An Occidental is a person from the west. How has political correctness got to the ridiculous point that one would take offense at someone using either word? How is Asian any more or less offensive? WTF? If someone said I was a Westerner or Occidental, I can't imagine finding, or trying to find fault in that.

Well first it is called chāu-mèing.... Chow Mein is just an Americanized ******* version of chāu-mèing which is really popular in South East Asia but to call it "Chow Mein" is to ignore it's roots.

Second, I'm sure it would still be better than the majority of crap served on the island(donning flame suit for this one) given that the majority of "visitors" are still going to all inclusive resorts...

I have been to all inclusive resorts and tried local food in quite a few countries and I can safely say I'll most likely never go to an all inclusive again.

I wish more US BBQ places would use some jerk seasoning...
BBQ/Jamaican Fusion is just so right

All that said, Russian has cuisine? I thought the lack of cuisine is why they try to leave the country? :-p

Not a fan of Vodka even if it's Russian but to each his own and whatever brings more Russian women to Jamaica is a + in my book....

Time to open a Russian bar, anyone good at cooking Russian food? We can throw "Chow Mein" on the menu just to annoy Fred

Met some people from Russia at Negril Beach Club Condos a few years ago...the ladies spoke little english, the man was a little easier to converse with..they all smiled and had a great time.
One day he did mention they did not like rice with every meal and I asked if they had been across the road to Fatties?
They tried it and loved the cabbage/veg mix she has with the meals. Options are there if you look around. Although I am not Russian by heritage, I do love borscht and I add scotch bonnets for
a Jamaican kick... Out of many, one people.... variety is the spice of life.
